Our Purpose
-
To cultivate and promote the African virtues of hospitality, unity, and good neighborliness through the Association’s socio-cultural activities, works of arts, including exhibitions, public awareness programs, entertainment and other events.

Provide networking opportunities, build, encourage, support and foster a stronger presence and relationship with the local authorities and communities.

To partake in Canada’s multicultural programs by actively participating in and contributing to various ethno-cultural events.

To ensure a smooth and happy transition for newly arrived brothers/sisters into the Yukon, by providing the needed guidance, vital information and all possible assistance to ensure proper and faster integration.

To promote moral, social and spiritual welfare of the members by arranging regular recreational activities.

To morally and materially assist similar organizations that legitimately endeavour to preserve the dignity and cultural identity of the African race and to seek the support of the Territorial and Federal Governments and humanitarian organizations in fulfilling such objectives.

To provide facilities for the education of members’ children in Afro-Caribbean arts and history in order to preserve their heritage.

Members shall comply with the provisions of the by-law

A member shall not use the member’s position on the Executive Committee or in any other elected or appointed position to advance any personal or private interest.

When performing the Association’s duties, a member shall not be influenced by self-interest, outside pressures, political considerations, public clamour, family or social relationships or fear of criticism.

A member whose conduct both in words and deeds is proved to be prejudicial to the Association shall be investigated by the Executive Committee and then recommend to the General Meeting of the Association of the appropriate action, if any, to be taken.
